Nature Preserve & Organic Farm -- Hidden Villa is a non-profit, wilderness preserve and organic farm, in operation since 1924. It serves as a rural oasis in the midst of Silicon Valley. This 1600 acre facility accommodates a number of agrarian activities, including the raising of pigs, chickens, sheep, and goats and the cultivation of a large organic garden. School children take field trips to Hidden Villa throughout the winter, for a glimpse of a sustainable, agricultural lifestyle. In the summer, it hosts a camp for kids who learn how food is grown and farm animals are raised. Year-round, this area doubles as an open space preserve that beckons nature enthusiasts. Hidden Villa affords a beautiful mountain vista and encompasses eight miles of tree-lined hiking trails for those who want to get some exercise while enjoying the scenery. In the spring, a brook flows swiftly down through the mountains and into the pasture, making the site ideal for picnics. Hostels are on-site for backpacking travelers looking for a cost-effective stay. Hidden Villa has been offering the use of its land for decades in an attempt to promote the tenets of sustainable land use and environmental responsibility.
